Science meets Music
As part of the Sound of Data project, Luxembourgish researchers collected scientific data then used by local and international musicians and composers to generate new tracks during an artist residency mentored by Valery Vermeulen. The result of this creative, innovative process and these musical compositions were presented during the project closing event on 3 December 2022, followed by the unique contribution of the project’s artistic partner Valery Vermeulen and electronica icon Max Cooper who unveiled his new album during an immersive live show.

Part of the Esch2022 program, The Sound of Data is a project supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund, the Luxembourg Institute for Science and Technology, the University of Luxembourg and the Centre de Musique Amplifiées – Rockhal, a Belval venue where the worlds of music and science collide. More specifically, it turned scientific data into music through an innovative and experimental approach called data sonification.
